Introducing Archie Freund... and a New Summer Style!

When I started writing this three weeks ago, it read: Four weeks today, and a slither of normality has begun to creep in. Albeit I write this one handed with a barely consolable baby feeding from my boob and an energetic over-stimulated toddler running circles around me – literally! Dan goes back to work tomorrow. Needless to say I’m not quite sure how I’m going to do this.

I didn’t get anymore written that day. Two kids are hard, and I was right to question the practicalities of doing this alone.

Archie Freund was welcomed into this world via emergency c-section seven weeks ago on the 16th of September at 10:29am – only hours before his scheduled induction. Weighing a whopping 9 pound 8 oz (4.2kg!) he was certainly a sight for sore, er, eyes.

Since starting this email three weeks ago, a lot has changed, as the hazy line between night and day becomes (a little) more defined.

Despite my overwhelming thirst to jump back into Monkey & Mum, that thirst will have to go unquenched a bit longer, as I have now learnt (since trying to write this email) that supposedly small tasks are no longer.

Long hours spent breastfeeding on the couch with nothing but my overactive imagination to keep me company, has left me with a head bursting with jewellery ideas. I have sacrificed some of my precious sleep to put a few new summery pieces into fruition.

I hope you enjoy these pieces (http://www.monkeyandmum.etsy.com) – as you can see, Archie certainly does!

Cheers,
Tess, Harry & little Archie

SIDS & Kids Fundraiser Raffle

This baby friendly necklace from Monkey & Mum went in the post today, destined for the SIDS & Kids fundraiser raffle later this month. This is the first of my monthly charity piece contributions. Thank you to Amanda and Charmaine from Girls Night In 2012 for helping me start something special.

Keep updated on the charities I support by keeping an eye on my Facebook album 'Charity Album', joining my mailing list (at the top right hand corner of this page), or by following this blog.

I Want to Give Back

I was contacted this month by two women whose stories touched me, as I am sure they would any other mother. Amanda and Charmaine both lost their baby sons and were greatly helped by SIDS and Kids. They are now helping to raise funds for this cause which obviously sits quite close to both their hearts.

When they asked me if I would like to donate a piece to raffle for their Girls Night In 2012 I began thinking about how I could, er should, be doing this type of thing MUCH more regularly. So I decided I would.

Beginning now, I am going to pick a charity which I can help out each month. If you know of any upcoming charity events you would like to let me know about, please shoot me an email as I would love to hear about them!

Detachable Flowers Now Available!

Just a quick reminder that the detachable flowers for the multi-strand necklaces are now available on the etsy store for $5 (or three for $13).

They are an easy way to jazz up a simple piece and give an entirely new look for a very small price. There is free shipping on these babies when purchased with a multi-strand necklace too!

Also, I would love to know what you think about me introducing a range of hand sewn fabric detachable flowers (in addition to the jersey knit ones pictured above). These would be about $10 each. Here is a recent one I did...

Would love to hear your thoughts!

Cheers,

New Baby Friendly Jewellery Necklace Style

My new range of baby friendly necklaces for mums has me very excited!

Super comfy to wear these pieces stretch over the head and are a tactile feast for babies (check them out at www.monkeyandmum.etsy.com).

Even more exciting though, is the range of detachable flowers I will be releasing later this week which will be an affordable and easy way to jazz up and diversify the one piece.

Most flowers will be five dollars, and will come in a variety of colours, styles, and sizes.

As is the case with all my pieces, these necklaces and flowers are great for babies that are teething - they're washable, made from natural materials, and have no small parts.

I would love to know what you all think!

Cheers,
Tess and little Harry x
